I have had the worst time ever trying to schedule for next semester. I only have six credits right now and the classes that I need and fit are full. I have talked to a couple of professors already and they said that they are not allowed to add anymore. I still have a few other options but this is a pain in the butt. I just hope that I have enough to be full time.

Today in fitness education we did the post test. I was kind of surprised to see my scores go up. I have been sick for about 2 weeks, but I still managed to do better. I think that it is good to do the pre and post tests for the fitness. This allows the student to see if they improved any and may give them a goal.

Yesterday I went to the mini-convention. First I listened to the high school and elementary physical educators from Girard school district. It was really nice to see how much they have changed. They have added a lot of new programs for the students. Then I went and listened to Mr. Slautterback, it was really interesting. I never really thought of doing square dancing in school, but the students seemed to really enjoy it. I think that is different and adds variety for the students and the teacher too.

Today I just finished the podcast. Steph and I finished it in the library. I thought that it was really easy. I think that it would really come in handy maybe when someone is taking an internet class. Then the lecture can be right on the computer. Maybe you could even download it and listen while you are doing something else like work or driving. I was not real sure about the podcast, but I thought that it was not that bad.

Today I schedule and it is not looking to good. So far it looks like I am only going to get 2 of the classes that I want. Sometimes I wish that we did not even have to schedule and they already had it done for us. But I do like picking what I am going to take, but the whole scheduling thing is such a hassle. I hope some other classes will open up for me.

This past week in fitness eduacation, we learned about flexibility. I thought that it was so wierd that in all of my sports and physical education class in high school that we were doing the wrong stretches. I learned that you really don't need to stretch before, if you do then do some dynamic stretches. For cool-down you are suppose to do static stretches. Static stretches is what we did in high school for a warm-up, not a cool-down.

Today I just finished my interactive powerpoint. I think it turned out pretty good. It took me a while to do all of the animations, but I have a lot of them so I think that is why it took so long. I'm glad that I am done with it, now I just have to do my podcast and efolio. I think that will defiantly take me a while to get done with.

Today I volunteered at the YMCA in Grove City, they are having an after school program there. When I first got there, I thought that I wasn't going to like it because the kids were younger than what I was expecting. They were from grades 3-6, I was expecting middle or high school kids. I always thought that I would teach high school, but today was really fun. The kids were great and I am definatly thinking about volunteering there on a regular basis.

Next week I am going to volunteer at the YMCA at Grove City. I think it is going to be so much fun. I am going to be working with students, they go to the YMCA after school. The students can play games, exercise or play an organized game. I think that if it is fun and organized, I might try to volunteer every week. Next week I am going to Wedensday and Friday.

I am in health foundations and Monday a lady came in to talk to us about tobacco. I thought that it was really interesting and cool. She had pig intestines that were healthy lungs and tobacco lungs. I think that it is important to bring different people in when going over certain lessons in health class. When I teach I plan on having people come in.

Today I finished up my Assessment Strategies class, I think that this semester is going kind of fast, but I'm not complaining. I also think that I may take some summer classes here. I have been trying to figure out my schedule for next semester, and it is so frustrating. Right now I only have 15 credits. I guess that isn't that bad, but I am usually taking a full load. The classes that I want to take are not fitting in now, I might have to redo it. Does anyone know if we have to take dance fundamentals if we take movement ed?

Yesterday I was working on my webpage and my computer froze up. I lost all of my work that I had done. Sometimes I really hate computers. I was so frustrated because I actually had a lot of stuff done. That seems to be happening to me a lot lately, I think something might be wrong with my computer. I have only had it for a year and it is already acting up. Talk about annoying.

Today in Assessment Strategies we went to the Neshannock elementary school. We assessed the third and sixth graders on their hockey schools. It was a really great experience, we finally have first hand experience now. The students did a peer and self assessment, then we did a teacher assessment. All of the students were very well behaved and listed well.

Today Jenna and I was going to make our video but that did not work out. First we went to the ARC to record but it was packed and noisy so we decided to go to the Field House. That did not work either, there was practices going on ALL day. This was the second time that Jenna and I has signed out a camera too, talk about frustrating, so we are planning on doing it agian this weekend.

Today I learned about cognitive assessment for elementary students. Dr. Miller came into our Assessment Stratigies class and lectured to us a little about it. Next Thursday, the whole class is going to an elementary school to assess 6th and 3rd graders. We are making a warm-up, self assessment, peer assessment, and a game for the class to do. I am excited to go and see how everything turns out.

One of my roommates, Nikki, was thinking about studying abroad for a semester and she wanted me to go with her. So I looked up some information about studying abroad, and I decided I want to go to Ireland. The only way I can go to Ireland is if I can graduate in three and a half years. Then I can student teach in Ireland in the fall of 2009 and graduate in December. I think I might take some summer classes so I can go. I can't wait!

Today in Assessment Stratigies of PE, we learned about different types of assessments and making rubrics. There are three more traditional assessments and rubrics; self, peer, and teacher. There is only one nontraditional which is game play, assessing the students while they are in the real life game play. I think that it is a good idea to know of the different types because this will be more exiting for both the student and teacher. This will allow the teacher to mix it up more for the students and they will learn about how to assess themselves and other students.

Today in class, we went over the webpage briefly. I think that it is a good idea to make a webpage. We will learn information on our topic and know how to make a webpage in the future. I have already made a webpage in a class before, but it was in Word. I think this wil actually be easier and better.

Today in my Assessment Strategies for PE class I learned about the Fitnessgram program. My teacher is Dr. Nichols, he showed us an example of a student report and then let us do it ourselves. It was really nice and easy. I really like how it shows the students where they are in each category that they are being tested on. I also thought that it was nice how you can make one for the parents to see how their child is physically fit. I think this is a good idea because then this allows the parents to get more involved with their child.

I think that there is a lot of cool technology things, too many for me to list. I don't really know if I have a favorite. I really like my laptop, digital camera and my phone; those are probably my favorite technology things that I own. I defiantly would not be able to survive at school without my laptop or phone, and I love taking pictures. The laptop is very useful during school, and if I am doing a project and I want to go home, I can just take my laptop home with no problems. I probably would be lost without my phone. I know that there is a lot better technology items but this is what I like that I own myself.

Hello, my name is Sarah Horne. I will be twenty in April. I graduated from Conneaut Lake high school in 2006. Conneaut Lake is a very small school, I graduated with about sixty students. While in high school I was very involved with activities; I played three sports, volleyball, basketball and softball. Volleyball was by far my favorite sport, I would have liked to play in college but I tore my ACL, MCL and my cartilage my senior year. I have three brothers, Adam, Matt and Cash, we are all very athletic. My brothers all wrestled, Adam made it to states his senior year, Matt placed 6th at states his senior year and Cash was one win away from placing at states last year. But Cash has this year to go again, this is his senior year.
